A waterfront with character
Chowder Bay, also known as Gooree, sits on the Mosman shoreline beside Clifton Gardens. Heritage buildings, a beach and the wooded headland give the bay its distinctive setting. The Harbour Trust manages the precinct, which was once used for military purposes.
From the water, it offers a change from the city skyline. You can make the surrounding scenery part of a relaxed cruise without planning a restaurant reservation or a shore excursion.
Enjoy your meal on Life’s Good
If you would like a slower lunch leg, ask whether the Chowder Bay area suits your date and itinerary. Bring food and drinks or discuss catering when you enquire. An onboard BBQ can keep the group together while the shoreline provides the backdrop.
Any stop depends on suitable conditions, permitted anchoring space and other activity in the bay. If your main goal is swimming, tell us that first so the crew can plan for a suitable location rather than promising a particular patch of water.
Understand the wharf before making plans
The public Chowder Bay Wharf has a maximum vessel length of eight metres. Life’s Good is approximately twelve metres long, so this guide does not offer that wharf as a boarding or landing point. The bay can still be discussed as part of a cruise from an appropriate confirmed wharf elsewhere.
A northern-shore route might combine Bradleys Head, the Athol area and Chowder Bay. If you also want to include Balmoral, ask how that affects the time available for a meal or stop.
A question about Chowder Bay
Can we board at Chowder Bay Wharf?
Not at the public wharf described by the Harbour Trust: its maximum vessel length is eight metres. We will arrange a suitable alternative boarding point for Life’s Good.
